Brick Wars #41

We have a new character! The Vulture Droid is one of the Trade Federation's many starfighters equipped with droid brains to crush their enemies.

Though this one here looks like a nice guy.

Lego has released a few different versions of the Vulture Droid over the years, but this is the original version, released back when the Phantom Menace came out. I had to track down the instruction manual and build him from scratch, as its been a while since I last assembled him.

And it's been a while since we last heard from BD-1023, hasn't it? Only time will tell if he succeeds in his mission...

Brick Wars #38

And Brick Wars is back, for another comic!

I couldn't kill off R2, now could I? 

New models in the set include the battle droid's console in the first panel, and the turbolaser cannons in the second. I wasn't able to fit enough of a laser in that panel along with the cannons, so I had to make a second panel with more of a laser. It fits together quite well, even if I do say so myself.

Again, the program I use to make the lasers is LSMaker, the best program out there for adding in laser and lightsaber effects to both still shots and movies. So go check it out if you'd like to make lightsaber movies!

Another thing, the Brick Wars Archive is complete, and offers links to all of the past comics, as well as including comments I've made looking back at my old work.

Recommendations of the Week: September 12th

My summer recommendations got me thinking about two things I really should have recommended a long time ago. As such, these recommendations are comic themed




Calvin and Hobbes

I hope you've heard of this. If you haven't, you should probably go and hear about it. Written by Bill Waterson... this is, in my opinion, they ONLY good newspaper comic. Ever. Everything from the art to the humour is all great. It strikes true to life, and covers a massive scope of topics. Read it. Like, go buy it and read it. Don't go and be cheap and find it online or something, buy one of the collections.




The Cartoon Guide to the Universe

This cartoon guide is... interesting. And comprehensive. That's important too. It's a funny, and often opinionated, trip through time. I heartily recommend the entire series. Note that the last two in the series are re-branded 'The Cartoon History of the Modern World' but they are essentially the same. A word of warning however, this is not for everybody, people who are offended by different opinions will probably be offended at least once in this book, not that it goes out of its way to do so or anything...
