Recommendations of the Week: January 9th

And with that nice winter break I am back and alongside me is a plethora of posts. In other words the normal Apps Plus schedule is going to be reinstated, starting with Recommendations of the Week. So, let's begin.

Bask In It:

Yes many of you will have just received a few items for Christmas and now is the time to live it up. You've got all these great new items, now make use of them! We both know that in a few weeks time anything you got will seem like something you've had forever and you'll no longer get that excited feeling every time you look at it, so make use of that excitement while it is still around.

Resolutions:

Of course now is also the time of the year that everyone sets some new years resolutions and starts going to the gym. And now is also around the time that people start getting lazy and stop going to the gym. So to them I say, you need to re-evaluate your resolutions. Pick something much smaller and more attainable. That way it is much easier to accomplish your goal and if you fail, you won't feel so bad. And remember, you're still in your prime, you've got decades and decades of new years resolutions to set ahead of you. So instead of aiming to knock 15 pounds off, why not aim for five? Sure it will take you three times as long to reach your goal, but you'll feel better and be much more likely to achieve it.

Brick Wars 50

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! Today is the 50th comic in the saga, and the end of Chapter 2.

So this is it! The intrepid bunch have headed off to Tatooine, for more adventures yet to come in the new year. So I'll be seeing you then.

Once more: Merry Christmas!

Recommendations of the Week: December 12th

Welcome back to another edition of Recommendations of the Week. Since we are nearing ever closer to Christmas I figured I'd do a couple for holiday season related recommendations.

Gift Idea: Magazine Subscription

It's getting close to Christmas and you still can't come up with a good idea for a present, well how about a magazine subscription? To me it is near the ideal gift. It's not too costly (especially with all the holiday season deals) and it's like you are giving that person a present every single month/week, plus you are supplying the person with something that they are interested in (presuming you get them the right subscription) which makes the gift more personal. So if you need a great idea, this might just be it.

Beverages: Everything Hot!

Yes the weather is getting colder and colder with each passing day, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing! Now you have an even better excuse to test out every type of coffee/hot chocolate/tea/etc. beverage out there! Just remember what you're buying, if you start trying everything at Starbucks then you might just have given up all the money you planned to spend on gifts.

Activity: Skiing

December brings the opening of most mountains and the start of the ski season for many. Sure December skiing can be a little wet and the snow base causes all sorts of grief to your skies, but hey, skiing is skiing.

Recommendations of the Week: December 5th

Well it's that time again, December! And with December comes winter break, delicious feasts, and of course shopping. "But Ernesto you're forgetting the most important thing that December brings", you might say, and in response I'd say "Oh right silly me, December also brings more Angry Birds!"

Angry Birds Seasons: Winter Wonderham

As always Rovio releases an update to their Angry Birds Seasons game which packs in another set of themed levels to the already massive Angry Birds archive. Like in years past, the levels from this update work like an advent calendar. Each day of the holiday season a new level becomes available for you to launch some birds at pigs (but with holiday spirit). Of course only a few levels are available at the moment, but so far nothing is new as compared to past Angry Birds games. Personally I would have liked to see an Angry Birds Star Wars Christmas themed level pack, so for now I'll just slash my lightsaver on some snowy levels and pretend its Christmas.

Of course the levels are still fun, so I can't complain. Yes I'm tired of playing Angry Birds (though the Star Wars version was great and definitely renewed my interest in the game, if only for that one app though) but I still feel I need to mention every time Rovio updates one of the many games.

If you don't have Angry Birds Seasons then you can grab it here for iOS or here for Android.
