Recommendations of the Week: October 3rd

Welcome back to another edition of Recommendations of the Week. Can you believe that it's already October? Today we're going to look at something completely random.

Lunch of Champions:

Back in the summer when I was working full time (I'm back at school now so the blog is the only work I do) I used to eat out everyday since I worked at a pretty big mall and there was a food court. But I liked to save money so I usually just ate at Tim Hortons (though I often splurged and bought other things). So since I ate so much Tim Hortons I needed to spice it up there so I wouldn't get tired of the same food, so I slowly managed to have a bit of everything and try different combinations of everything and here are my top two favourites. So next time you're at Tim Hortons try getting these combos both for under six bucks.

Combo One:

I loved to get a raisin cinnamon bagel toasted with butter and a Boston Creme donought and a butter croissant on the side. This combo gives you a bit of everything so there is no going wrong. But if you're looking for a little more of a substantial that covers a few more of the food groups then take a look at combo two.

Combo Two:

This combo is made up of a Toasted Chicken Mini with a soup (usually the chicken noodle) and a donought. The Toasted Chicken Mini's are small as the name implies but it doesn't matter because when you throw in a soup on the side and a donought you realize you have quite a bit there. It's like eating a little of a lot, which is definitely the way I like to eat.

Recommenations of the Week: September 26th

Welcome back to this week's edition of Recommendations of the Week. Let's begin.

Shop Deals:

For the majority of the "bigger" apps in the AppStore, and by bigger I mean closer to full fledged games such as Dead Space as apposed to a mini game like Doodle Jump, they can be quite expensive. Of course this is all relative. People complain non-stop when game developers released games for more then $5 on the App Store, yet they don't say anything for dropping $40 on a game for their X-Box which theoretically should have eight times more content (if we went by pricing) but doesn't actually. So if you're one of those people who complains about costly apps and resorts to not buying the app, don't fret, there are alternatives. And I'm not talking about jailbreaking your device (something that I originally did to get past the cost of buying so many apps), no I'm talking about shopping for deals. Apps actually go on some amazing deals and they go on sale more then you'd think. These sales often can be quite high too. For instance there was a great app a few weeks ago normally priced around $10 brought down to $0.99 for the duration of the sale. And it's prices like that that you really can't beat. So if you're in the neighbourhood for some "expensive" apps but don't want to cough up some cash, just wait it out a few weeks, there are good chances your app will go on sale.

Recommendations of the Week: September 19th

Welcome back to more recommendations. Since we're only days away from the changing of seasons and the beginning of fall, it's only suiting that we talk about some fall related things. Let's begin.

Coffee Time!:

In the spring and summer I can't go near any hot beverages like coffee or tea or hot chocolate, etc. So it's actually quite nice when the summer ends and the colder weather comes back. With fall comes winter and winter brings on my old routine of daily cappuccinos and the like. Of course it's a bad habit considering the expense, so that's why I end up usually buying a box of tea for a few bucks and using that for a while. I especially like buying the boxes that come with a bunch of different flavours because then it's like I'm having something new and exciting everyday without actually having to go out and buy anything- it saves time and money, and what's better then that? Anyways when it gets cold head out and pick up something, whether it be a coffee or tea or really whatever floats your boat, its a great way to start and finish your day.

Recommendations of the Week: September 5th

Welcome back to more Recommendations of the Week. This week is the first week of classes for most people, and today is the first day of classes for me. So it's only suiting, of course, to do school themed recommendations.

Set Goals:

I know it sounds cheesy, but the best way to succeed at school is to set some goals and realistic expectations for the year. What you have to do is determine what you want the end result to look like, and then figure out a way that will allow you to achieve that. If you want straight A's then how much time will you have to dedicate to studying and doing homework? Maybe you'll realize that you're not willing to give up that much time, so maybe pick two courses you want A's in and aim for A's in those and B's in the others. Then in the end you'll feel like you've accomplished something great, instead of being disappointed and let down. Maybe this formula doesn't work for you. Luckily you have this week to try and come up with a formula that does, then comes the hard part, implementing it. Again this sounds cheesy, but if you think you can do it, and you honestly try, then you'll probably be able to do it (remember to set realistic goals though, there's no point in aiming for 100% in everything).

Do Something Fun:

Ride in style with your very own Hummer golf cart
If you're a university or college student like me then you'll probably be feeling a bit short on money around this time of year and probably starting to get really stressed. So this is the perfect time to do something fun. It's like the big finale to summer. If you do something really awesome at the end of the year then you won't feel so bad, or feel like you missed out or wasted time in the summer, coming into the new school year. For instance last year I went out golfing (one of my favorite summer time activities) with some of my buddies. But what we did that was extra special was rent a couple of golf carts. Normally we don't to save money, so it was fun to just not care for a day and drive around the course like mad men. Anyways what I'm saying is go out and do something awesome.
